Willy Wonka

We took the girls to see Willy Wonka at the Scera Theater. Hailey has read all of Roald Dahl's books, so when we saw that it was playing I was so excited to take her (I always love seeing the play or movie of books I've read). It ended up being a combination of the 1971 and 2005 movies... one of the best parts of the evening was during a song where a girl wanted a squirrel. Ava came up to me and kept saying "Ten Hen"... I was a bit confused. Then she said, "mom, that girl isn't obeying the 10th commandment... Thou shalt not covet!" Wahoo! Family Home Evening lessons are starting to pay off!

Things We Do For Fun

Not Twins

Even though it looks like my sister-in-law, RosaLee (Ryan's wife) and I are due on the same date, don't be fooled... I am due 2 months later. Sad? Yes. Do I want our children to share a birthday? Yes! Am I huge this time around? Obviously.

Anatomy Lesson

Things were a little too quiet downstairs, so I went to investigate. Uncle Nathan had the kids deeply involved in an anatomy lesson, complete with The Other Dave (his skeleton), an eye, brain, heart and ear (we have been known to call Nathan a nerd because of his love for science). Not only did he have the complete attention of 5 children, he also taught them some things that sunk in. A month later Jinnie and I were driving in the car and she proceeded to give me a lesson on the heart and blood. I'm thinking Nathan's calling in life is that of a preschool science teacher.

The Ants

During our annual vacation to the USA we stock up on our favorite treats. Somehow the ants always find one of them. Last year it was graham cracker pie crusts. This year it was the Junior Mints. I knew I should have eaten them before they even made it to the pantry.

Grandma Ponczoch Singing

The girls sang a song in Spanish for their Great Grandma Ponczoch, so she sang them a Polish song that her father sang to her when she was a little girl.

Oops... didn't realize just how loud Dave & Grandpa were in the background while playing cribbage.

4th of July!

We spent the 4th (ok, the 3rd... the 4th was a Sunday) at Aunt Ann & Uncle Walt's house. It was so great eating all of the yummy Wilkey salads and homemade ice creams:) It was also the first time since my wedding (11 years ago) that all of the girl cousins my age have been together. Emily, Amy, Shelly, Sara & I were all born November 1979- July 1980 (Dustin was also born in this time frame, but he wasn't in town). Please don't mind my strange head-tilt... it's the only picture on my camera where all eyes were open (and with Wilkey eyes that can sometimes be difficult, haha). Jinnie thoroughly enjoyed her first experience with sparklers. Ava thought the sparklers and all of the fireworks were 'awesome'.
Hailey felt quite nervous being so close to the fireworks and sparklers, so she kept grandma company.
When we returned home (aka my parents house), Uncle Nathan read the girls a book that calls my mom a cockroach (it's called 'Wilkey the White House Cockroach'... my moms maiden name is Wilkey... her married name is White).

Crashing the Honeymoon

The girls and I arrived the day before Paige & Colton's wedding, which means we didn't get to see a whole lot of them. Since I had wanted to do some shopping at the outlet's in Park City, and that's where the newlyweds were honeymooning, they let me take them out to lunch & they joined me shopping. It was really great to get to know Colton better... good job Paige:)

Part of my shopping included Motherhood Maternity... I made Paige try on one of the pregnancy pillows and clothes:) Isn't she the cutest prego lady ever? And on her honeymoon;)

Gathering of the Greats

While we were in Wisconsin there was a big Ponczoch reunion. All of Grandma and Grandpa Ponczochs great-grandchildren were in attendance. Click here for an article where I sound anything but articulate (and no, grandma & grandpa, I don't want or expect you to die soon... I was talking more about a bucket-list type of wanting to do before you die). Also, that #54- they forget to tell you that I was patting my belly during that part of the conversation. Anyway, great that the event was in the paper, embarrassing that I was interviewed.

Ponczoch Cousin Pictures

This is the best we were able to do with 16 children ages 8 and under. I think some of the kids were distracted by the fruit snacks waiting for them:)
Pretty in Pink... do we really have all faces forward?
Aren't these boys adorable? My beauties.
